Auto Insurance companies as a general rule assess a claim, determine the degree of damage, estimate the cost of repairs, write out a check in the name of the vehicle accident victim, and pay the auto body repair shop. Based on the projected cost, the auto body repair shop will finagle their expenses to profit the most from the job; in other words, they are trying to get as much of the insurance cash as possible. They do this through adding labor fees, finder fees, processing fees, and operating cost. They will, often, also fix your car using used components, junk components, and inferior materials such as body putty and fiberglass. In order to make sure that you, the victim, will get the repair you deserve on your vehicle, complete the following:
1. Do not give the accident compensation claim money to the auto service shop until all work is performed. Body service shops will tell you all kinds of stories to convince you to allow an incomplete job. Don’t forget, the service center should not receive money until you are satisfied and do not shift in this.
2. Inform them that all broken car body sections must be changed out with completely new auto body parts. Sadly, you have to use body putty or fiberglass when it comes to getting junctions consistent; on the other hand, you can avoid using body putty and/or fiberglass to fill in indentations when simply using a brand new component. Over-using body putty and fiberglass lowers the value of your vehicle.
3. Let them know that used auto body parts won’t do. Keep in mind, your investment in an insurance policy is so that in the event of an accident, they must pay out a settlement to take the car back to the pre-accident condition. The one and only instance you require used parts is if the brand new parts are nowhere to be found.
